OMG Miami, Peter Hirshberg, Leslie Harpold, all kinds of stuff

So! I went to Miami. I had a great time BUT there was one day when everything was less than perfect; the Raleigh bartender referred us to the very worst bar in the world, Smith & Wollensky, I will give you five dollars to never go there. Then, we had a terrible waiter AT the Raleigh, who actually argued with me that the Cabernet Sauvignon he brought was the Sauvignon Blanc I ordered. Okay, WTF, these are such stupid first-world rich people problems! Snap out of it Liz.

It was very nice not having to be anywhere at any given time and decadently tanning, even though I have skin cancer and am really not supposed to be doing that. Fun fun fun till her daddy takes the T-bird away.

Peter Hirshberg is an executive at my company. I really have never felt like I know him, and our exchanges are sometimes very satisfyingly good and sometimes totally irritating. But then, yesterday, he forwarded the URL to the MySpace page he made for his 79-year old mother, and I am so won over–he is a comic genius. Make sure you watch the video at the top of the page. GOLD I TELL YOU.

What else? Leslie Harpold died, and I really couldn’t believe it. I met her in about 1998 or 1999. She and I were not directly in a fight, but she was in a fight with some of my favorite people, so I hadn’t had contact with her in at least a year. You never think that a fight is permanent, that the person will be gone and you can never reconcile. And yet that’s what happened. She was incredibly smart, and talented, and maddening all at the same time. She said some of the nicest things to me that have ever been said to me in my life.

I saw Clutch Hauser’s baby and it’s CUTE. As is Keith Petersen’s new baby Greta. Goddamn that baby is happy.

I love Creativity Explored. Developmentally disabled adults do art. Less sharks in formaldehyde, more ice cream sundae cars. There is a group show there called Naked and the opening reception is on January 11. I will see you there, yes?

And what the world really needs now is another blog by ME, and my three readers get another URL to remember or forget. I guess you can't really launch a product like VOX without a blogging platform but don't other people have these problems?
